ACTIVITIES DIRECTED AT STUDENTS

During this project, we will develop two type of activities at our pilot university, the University of Jyväskylä: compassion mentoring in peer groups and Let’s Do Good activities that guide participants towards practical action.

In compassion mentoring groups, we will study the opportunities and challenges of compassion, co-passion and self-compassion both in the study environment and in the lives of people and communities in general. The groups are led by students trained for the tasks, and the main focus of the content is on group discussions and sharing peer experiences.

The aim is to include peer mentoring as part of the university’s teaching content. Peer groups will be organized at least in the spring of 2020, autumn of 2020 and spring of 2021. You can find up-to-date information on the starting groups on this website.

We offer students opportunities to make a difference through concrete project activities. In the Let’s Do Good activities drawing from the idea of service-learning, students are able to come up with ideas and implement service projects meaningful to them for the good of others, both in the study community and outside. During these activities, the participants will learn to direct their interest towards civic action and strengthen their sense of inclusion and working-life skills.
