Welcome to join our English-speaking online safer space peer support sessions!
Welcome to a peer support session where we will explore ways to strengthen and express our queer identity! This pop up event is aimed at international queer students and will provide an open space to discuss how we can be proud of our own identity and what tools are available to express ourselves in a safe and empowering way.
In this session, we will reflect together on how we can strengthen our self-esteem and acceptance, even though we live in different cultures where attitudes towards queer identity can be very different. What is our way of expressing ourselves and our needs in communities where we may experience both acceptance and challenges? We will explore different ways of affirming our own identity, whether through external expression or internal processes. We will also discuss the meaning of queer joy – the joy and freedom that comes from the very act of being ourselves without fear or shame.
We will also discuss self-help tools that can help us cope with daily challenges and strengthen our inner well-being. How can we take care of ourselves and our own mental health, especially when we face cultural or social barriers to expressing our queer identity? We can share concrete self-care tools – whether it’s relaxation techniques, using art and creativity, or strengthening community support networks.
This peer session is an opportunity for you to share your own experiences and hear others’ stories of how to discover and nurture your own strengths as a queer person. Together, we can create an environment where queer joy is at the centre and where we can celebrate our identities without fear or boundaries. Join us and discover new ways to empower yourself and enjoy what it means to be yourself.
