Pause. Breathe. Learn skills for student life.

Student life can be exciting and meaningful – but also demanding, stressful and full of uncertainty. Many students struggle with concentration, sleep, pressure, loneliness or feeling overwhelmed. Mindfulness offers simple, practical skills to help you meet these challenges with more clarity, balance and kindness.

This short 3-week English-speaking online group gives you a gentle introduction to mindfulness and how it can support your wellbeing in everyday student life.

The group sessions wil be held on Wednesday 20.5. – 3.6. from 17.15 to 18.15 on Zoom. Free places are available for students via Nyyti.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness means learning to pay attention to present-moment experience with openness and curiosity.

Instead of running on ‘autopilot’, we learn how to:

  • notice thoughts, emotions and body sensations
  • step out of stress and overthinking loops
  • respond more skilfully to challenges
  • bring more calm, focus and self-compassion into daily life

Group structure and what happens in the sessions?

This three-week group includes three weekly sessions, each lasting 1 hour. Sessions build on each other, so participants are asked to attend all three. The sessions are organized online, on Zoom. They are held in English.

The group sessions are held on Wednesdays 20.5., 27.5. and 3.6. from 17.15 to 18.15.

Each session includes:

  • guided mindfulness practices
  • short teaching and practical examples
  • reflection and group discussion (sharing is always optional)
  • suggestions for home practice between sessions

Between sessions, participants are invited to practise at home for about 10 – 20 minutes per day using guided recordings. This is a practical, experiential course – we learn by doing.

During the group we explore three core themes:

  • Training attention: How attention works and how it shapes our experience of studying, stress and everyday life.
  • New ways of being in everyday moments: How to bring mindfulness into studying, technology use, rest and relationships.
  • Responding instead of reacting: How to work more skilfully with stress, difficult emotions and self-criticism.

Who is this group for and how to join?

This group is for students in higher education across Finland who:

  • feel stressed, overwhelmed or stuck in overthinking
  • want tools for focus, balance and wellbeing
  • are curious about mindfulness
  • are willing to try short daily practices between sessions

No prior meditation experience is required.

Registration for this group begins in March on this website. Places are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. The teacher will contact everyone who has registered.
