What is mielenTEKoja?

MielenTEKoja is a collaborative project between Nyyti and Tekniikan Akateemiset TEK to promote mental wellbeing among students. The project has finished in March 2022.

Background

In 2019, more than 40% of university students of technology reported that they often or constantly worry about their wellbeing. One in three felt overwhelmed by the workload associated with their studies. (TEK student survey 2019.) The Covid pandemic and restrictions on students have further tested the resilience of higher education students. Today’s study ability is tomorrow’s work ability – mental skills are tomorrow’s work skills.

Goals

We aim to increase the knowledge and skills of engineering, maths, and science students in higher education on the topic of mental wellbeing. We want to break down prejudices and lower the threshold of talking about mental health problems. We provide concrete ways to strengthen coping skills and mental wellbeing. We also offer tools for supporting others in coping with study ability challenges.

Opportunities to participate and get involved

By taking part in mielenTEKoja activities, you can support your own wellbeing, develop your mental skills, and promote a learning culture that supports mental wellbeing. If you have an idea, you can ask us to work with you in organising mental wellbeing activities in your study community.
